About FoxFire Fells Blog

Welcome to FoxFire Fells.

This site is mainly a photo dump of my instagram posts of my Sylvanian Families and other toys.

My cleaner toy hobby site is on My Sylvanian Ville but it doesn’t get updated regularly.

Comments on this blog are purposely turned off as I don't have much time to keep track of nor moderate them.  I like to publish my SF pics, not become a site comment moderator. Lol. ;)

What's with the Name

In the meantime... here's a lil tidbit about the name I selected for this blog:

I love the aurora borealis, also known as the northern lights.  It's a natural phenomenon that occurs sometimes in the very cold evening skies in the northern hemisphere during autumn and winter where one can see the sky aglow with colour-changing lights.

This awesome celestial illumination happens in many arctic and northern locations like Canada, Alaska, Greenland, and countries in Scandinavia.  A similar phenomenon also occurs in the southern hemisphere and that's called aurora australis.

There are many indigenous legends and folklore on this fantastic phenomenon and the name they called the lights by.  But the name and story I like best is from Finland.  In the olden days, the Finnish believed it was caused by a magical fox running over the tundra (or fell) with its tail emitting the sparks that illuminate the cold northern night skies.  They called it "revontulet", which means fox fires.  How fantastic is that?

I like foxes and the northern lights.. They're beautiful and exotic at the same time.  And the Finnish just gave me the best (nature-and-SF-related) name for my SF Blogger site. Lol!  Happy browsing!
